Mount Chocorua (pronounced "Cho-koo'-ra")
is one of the most heavily hiked mountains in the Whites and for good
reason. This very beautiful and very moderate hike leads to an
open, rocky, cone summit with incredible views. Hikers break out
of the trees to play on smooth rock ledges before reaching the summit.
There are fine northerly views of the southern Presidentials including
Mt. Washington. To the west lies the Sandwich Range with the likes
of Four Thousand Footer Mt. Passaconaway (4,043 ft.). If you don't
mind the crowds attracted to this popular peak, you'll be rewarded with
a pleasant hike and great views.
